EXCELSIOR WIND ENERGY FACILITY BURSARY – 2026

The Excelsior Wind Energy Facility is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 Bursary Programme. This initiative is designed to empower deserving South African students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and other fields.
The bursary programme seeks to develop a new generation of innovators and professionals who will contribute to South Africa’s just energy transition, advance clean energy solutions, and make a meaningful impact within their communities and the broader economy.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Bursary Programme, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Must have attended school at either Swellendam Senior Secondary School, Albert Myburgh . —Secondary School, Riviersonderend High School, Barrydale High School, Ashton Secondary —-=-School or Ashton Combined School.
- Living within the Overberg region for at least 5 years
- Must belong to a previously disadvantaged group
- Be enrolled or provisionally accepted at a public Higher Education Institution in South Africa.
- Be unemployed
- Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- Have a total household income of R350 000 or less per annum.
Required Supporting Documents
Applicants must submit clear and certified copies (not older than six months) of the following:
- Certified South African Identity Document.
- Mid-year (June) or Final results (Matric and/or Tertiary).
- Proof of provisional acceptance at a public tertiary institution.
- Proof of residence.
- Parent/Guardian Consent form (applicants under 18 years)
- Proof of total monthly household income
o Latest payslip
o Affidavit if unemployed
o 3 month’s bank statement if self-employed
o Parent(s’) death certificate if parent/s deceased
o Proof of disability (if Applicable to applicant)
